Martin O’Malley

Dr. Martin O’Malley graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and completed his Radiology residency at Boston University where he was Chief Resident. Following a Fellowship in Abdominal Imaging and Interventional Radiology at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, he moved to Toronto where he is a staff radiologist in the Division of Abdominal Imaging, Joint Department of Medical Imaging and Professor, University of Toronto.

His clinical and research interests are in the field of Abdominal Imaging. He has received multiple academic awards and grants and was a collaborator on a major research grant from the National Institutes of Health/National Cancer Institute. His research has been presented at major international meetings and recognized with honors and awards from radiology organizations including ESGAR, ARRS, RSNA and non-radiology organizations including AUA and ASCO.

He has served in various leadership roles including Clinical Expert for CT at JDMI, Director of Medical Imaging at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Canada’s premier cancer centre, and regional lead for the Cancer Imaging Program at Cancer Care Ontario/Ontario Health. He has worked with the Provincial Ministry of Health where he was the Chair of the Diagnostic Imaging Safety Committee for CT and advised on the Healing Arts Radiation Protection Commission.

Dr. O’Malley has lectured at national and international meetings, and received multiple teaching awards from the residency and Fellowship programs. In 2016 he received the Haughton Medal and an Honorary Fellowship from the Faculty of Radiologists, Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. In 2022, he received the Master Teacher Award from the Department of Medical, University of Toronto for his longstanding contributions to education.

Outside of radiology, Martin is married with 3 children, enjoys keeping active and plays tennis regularly.
