Laila Alshafai
Laila Alshafai is an assistant professor, University of Toronto, Neuroradiology staff in the head and neck division of the Joint Department of Medical Imaging (JDMI), Mount Sinai hospital.
She obtained her Medical school degree at King Faisal University, Saudi and did her radiology Residency training in medical imaging at McGill University, Montreal, Canada. Post residency fellowship in Diagnostic Neuroradiology was at the University of Toronto.
Alshafai is one of four head and neck radiologists at UMIT.
She has has been on the Diagnostic Neuroradiology committee since her fellowship with different roles. She is currently the site supervisor for medical students, radiology residents, Neuroradiology fellows and observers from different residency programs.
Her main interest is education and has received the Excellence in teaching awards by the UofT radiology residency program in 2015/16, 2016/17, 2018/19, 2019/20, 2020/21 and 2021/22 academic years. She has also received the Edward L . Lansdown award for outstanding teacher in the radiology residency training program in 2020/21 academic year.
