Ganesan Annamalai

Dr. Ganesan Annamalai is an assistant professor at the University of Toronto and has been a staff Vascular and Interventional Radiologist since 2006. He practised for 9 years at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre before moving to his current position at Mount Sinai Hospital and University Health Network.
Dr. Annamalai graduated from Queen’s University of Belfast in 1993. He did surgical residency and went on to earn his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) in 1997. Subsequently he did diagnostic radiology residency at University of Glasgow and obtained the Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists, UK (FRCR) in 2003, before completing his Vascular and Interventional Radiology (VIR) specialist training. He then completed a second VIR fellowship at Vancouver Coastal Health and University of British Columbia in 2006.

He was on the Society of Interventional Radiology standards of practice subcommittee and contributed to various practice guidelines. His subspecialty interests include interventional oncology, aortic and peripheral arterial interventions, peritoneal dialysis catheter placement, varicocele embolization and uterine and prostate artery embolization.
Dr. Annamalai has a strong clinical and research interest in prostate artery embolization (PAE), a novel, minimally invasive therapy for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
