
Felipe Sanchez Tijmes
Dr. Felipe Sanchez Tijmes is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Medical Imaging at the University of Toronto and a Cardiothoracic Radiologist at the Joint Department of Medical Imaging. He completed his medical education at the University of Chile and a radiology residency at Universidad de los Andes in Santiago, Chile, serving as chief resident, academic director of the Chilean Society of Radiology residents, and earning the Best Resident of the Promotion Award.
Pursuing his interest in cardiothoracic imaging, he completed a fellowship at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and the Joint Department of Medical Imaging, where he developed advanced skills in imaging techniques and patient care.
Dr. Sanchez Tijmes is dedicated to education, actively teaching and mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows. He serves on the education committee of the North American Society for Cardiac Imaging and the Cardiovascular Radiology and Intervention Early Career Development committee of the American Heart Association.
His clinical focus is on cardiac and thoracic radiology, interpreting studies using X-ray, CT, and MRI, and performing CT-guided lung procedures. His research explores CT technologies that reduce radiation doses while maintaining or even improving imaging quality. Outside of work, Dr. Sanchez Tijmes enjoys music, gaming, and spending time outdoors with friends and family.
