
Archana Rai
Dr. Archana Rai is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Medical Imaging, University of Toronto, and a Cardiothoracic Radiologist at the Joint Department of Medical Imaging. Dr. Rai completed her undergraduate medical education and post-graduate training in Diagnostic Radiology at Medical College Baroda, M.S University, India. After completing her diagnostic radiology residency program, she was honored with a scholarship by the European School of Radiology (ESOR) for a clinical-research fellowship in thoracic imaging. During this fellowship, she spent three months at the Thorax Clinic, Heidelberg University, Germany, studying patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and interstitial lung diseases.
Driven by a profound interest in cardiothoracic imaging, Dr. Rai relocated to Canada to pursue clinical fellowships in Adult Cardiothoracic Imaging at St. Michael’s Hospital and Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, and in Pediatric Cardiac Imaging at The Hospital for Sick Children, University of Toronto. These fellowships provided her with extensive training in cardiac and thoracic imaging.
Her clinical work focuses on chest imaging and cardiac imaging (including cardiac CT and MRI). She is passionate about medical students and radiology trainee education. During her fellowship at the Department of Medical Imaging, University of Toronto, she actively contributed to implementing an educational program for cardiothoracic imaging fellows.
Outside of her professional pursuits, Dr. Rai finds relaxation in spending quality time outdoors and enjoys having enriching travel experiences worldwide.
