Dr. Felipe Torres
Dr. Felipe Soares Torres completed medical school at the Faculty of Medicine of Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (FAMED-UFRGS), Brazil, in 2002 and residency programs in Internal Medicine and Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging at Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre (UFRGS), in Porto Alegre, Brazil.
He subsequently completed a cardiac imaging fellowship and a Thoracic Imaging Fellowship at Toronto General Hospital, UHN in Toronto. Back in Brazil, he obtained his PhD in Cardiology and Cardiovascular Sciences at FAMED-UFRGS and became a professor of the Postgraduate Studies Program in Cardiology and Pneumology at UFRGS.
Since 2013, Dr. Torres has served in many administrative positions at the Service of Radiology, Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre (RS, Brazil), including Head of CT imaging, Head of Operations Management and Radiologist-in-Chief (2017-2019). He has also served as President of the Radiological Society of Rio Grande do Sul (AGR, fully affiliated with Brazilian College of Radiology). In addition, Dr. Torres was an Adjunct Professor of Radiology at UFRGS and at Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS), Brazil.
Dr. Torres is currently appointed as Assistant Professor of Medical Imaging at the University of Toronto. His clinical work focuses on cardiothoracic imaging, including cardiac CT and MRI, and chest imaging. His research includes the use of Artificial Intelligence in the evaluation of patients with lung cancer and lung infection.
Dr. Torres is a soccer fan and supports Gremio FBPA, which, he believes, is the most important soccer club on the planet. He also enjoys playing sports and barbecuing with family and friends.
